On-campus
students
You are strongly encouraged to schedule your advising appointment in advance on your My ASU student homepage. Scheduled appointments are 30 minutes in length and can be reserved up to two weeks in advance.
Routine advising questions
Email the on-campus advising team with your questions. Include your student ID and detailed information about your question or situation. We will respond within 2 business days.
Operating Hours
We offer face-to-face, Zoom video conferencing or telephone advising appointments and are available to answer questions via email. We are available for students Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Arizona-MST).
Tardiness and missed appointment policy
Students who are late 15 minutes or more to their advising appointment will be required to reschedule their appointment. If you can no longer participate in your scheduled appointment you must contact your advisor in advance to notify them of the cancellation.
A minimum of 24 hours advance notice is required for cancellations. If a student misses 3 scheduled appointments or has 3 cancellations less than 24 hours, they will be required to contact the School of Life Sciences Front Office at (480) 727-6277 in order to book an advising appointment.
Online students
Newly admitted students
Newly admitted students will receive a welcome email from the School of Life Sciences advising office within 1-3 days of their official ASU admission. This email contains instructions on how to complete our online Canvas modules for an onboarding process. Once completed, students may schedule their Initial Advising Appointment. This will be a group advising session designed to get you started with the basics of your major and the resources available during academic advising.
Steps to schedule an advising appointment for online students
Your 30-minute advising appointment will take place on the phone or via Zoom unless you request a phone appointment. You must have access to a computer and your My ASU account during your appointment. All appointments are scheduled in Tempe, AZ time. (Arizona does not participate in Daylight Savings Time).
To make an appointment:
- Log in to your My ASU student homepage
- Expand the "Academic Advising" section on the left hand side of the page
- Click the maroon "Schedule appointment" button
